Invisible network influences to visible life
Nowadays, people use the internet along with digital technologies as one factor in their life in many aspects. The internet is all around us and it becomes part of our life. Some people start the day with checking on social media and it becomes one of the daily routines. The internet is influence and familiar to all people around the world.
“The internet is everywhere. It’s absorbed most of the essential civic, commercial, and social activities of the world… yet, we can’t see it. And this means it’s pretty hard to think about it, and to understand who’s running things.” — Bridle
We use the internet to do everything. In this era, the kids are born with full of digital technologies and internet, they know how to use it since they are around 3 years old, they know how to search the video on Youtube and some of the kids using the internet for their education as well. Back in my era, most of us know how to use the internet when we’re around 10 years old. Since that age, I don’t have any tablet or own smartphone. I don’t know that can search everything from browsing on the internet, I still watching the cartoon from DVD player and playing the game with face by face with my friends, not as an online game like the present.
Since that age, the internet is something invisible to me. I ever asked my dad, where does the internet come from, who is the controller, and why I can not see it? He cannot answer it until now. When I was growing, I learned more and used more with digital technologies and the internet, it makes me think more about privacy and effect from the internet with our life. In certain, most of the things are running by the internet and digital technologies.
“The internet and other digital technologies affect every aspect of our lives, our politics, our society.” — Bridle
The page, media, or people who we interested or following in social media are influence to us. Most people have been shaped by factors though the internet unconsciously. Let me make it clear by giving some example, My sister follow bunch of dancers on Instagram and she wants to expert in dancing like that, at the beginning she’s focusing on dancing only and she watches it every day, but when the time passed the other things such as the body shape, the hairstyle or everything of the dancer have influenced her unconsciously, she takes more focusing with dancer daily life, what that they eat, how do they exercise instead of dancing. Then she moves to focus on the dancer daily life and try to eat and workout as them, but in real life, she is unhappy with the routine that she doing like the dancer but the result that she got, she has a nice body shape and more confidence while she dances, and at the final, she got more attention in online. From this happen with my sister, it is nice that she got more famous but in real life, she has to force herself self doing the thing that is not her. Sometimes social identity steals your own identity.
I agree with Bridle that the internet can affect our lives. People have been shaped by a lot of factors that most are from the internet.
The internet is the way that lets people share and present themself to the public. In contrast, the internet also leads people to shape or fake themself to get famous which is not their personality as well.
